Problem: What does the design of a luxury, eco-conscious experience look like?
Solution: I designed a website with luxurious branding and an ambiguous feel.
My idea was to play on the divide of nature and mankind and how that can be visually expressed with the shore and tide and so, I titled the experience ‘above’ (for man/land) and ‘below’ (for sea/nature). With this idea, I decided to create a word mark and a logo with the ampersand being the divide between the two words and I decided that this ampersand use would be continuous throughout the site.
When considering tone of voice, I decided to create an almost ‘retreat’/ ‘getaway’ event which looked at providing an opportunity to immerse yourself within the natural world at all levels from discovery to constructing with the sea glass, this made it clear that my tone of voice should utilise words and phrases that convey a sense of luxury and a deep connection to nature hence I chose to go with poetic words/imagery coupled with bold adjectives to provide this.
